Quality of prints

As we draw to the end of another year, M and I were reviewing our achievements this last year, and we came round to the topic of how we have priced our images for sale.
The reason this came up was because of the number of crazy priced images we see around. This got us thinking.

There seem to be several main groups, those who are happy to sell at any price as long as they cover the basic costs of raw materials (this does nobody any favours).
Those who use lower grade and thus lower cost materials ie. ink and printing media, and a third group who combine both the above.

Low grade materials leads to fading within a very short period of time.
To make matters even worse, the colours fade at differing rates leading to some sorry looking pictures.
We have extensively researched the materials we chose to use, only using high grade archival pigment inks and archival media from trusted manufacturers. These materials do not come cheap, but we know, that by taking this route our images will last.

Some pointers for whenever you buy a printed image.

What is the image printed on?
Is the paper and ink of archival standard?
How long will the image last?
How should it be displayed or stored?
We place a notice on all our images stating the archival properties of our images as well as giving guidelines for storage and display.

We are happy to stand behind the quality of our images, others may not.
