I own this flash gun for a very simple reason: A Panasonic GX 8 camera does not have its own built in flash.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Olympus makes this flash gun specifically to be used with its OM-D E-M5 Mark11 camera. It is compatible with Olympus’ TTL system for automatic exposure control. It’s also dust and splash-proof in its build to match the camera. Personally, I wonder how you know what the limit is of that kind of statement!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I use my flash on its own and to trigger my wireless controlled Nissin Di466 flash guns when necessary. It does this well in my opinion. It uses the power from the camera body it’s fitted to, so it will, in heavy use, start to drain your camera battery. So far I have not found an off-camera TTL lead compatible with this flash gun.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The FL-LM3 flash is often found second hand which, incidentally, all my flash guns are. I have bought them all for a very affordable price.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“So far, so good”, you think. There has to be a down side other than its lack of range. You are correct, you have to do a little DIY to get the flash to fit onto the GX8 hot shoe mount.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I must thank a YouTuber for this Idea, as David Thorpe did a great short video on making the adjustments. I just followed his advice. It works for me. Take a look for yourself at <\/span><\/span><\/span>www.youtube.com\/watch?v=8Tn-aFUKxhI&t=61s<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n
